Getting A Hotel Rewards Credit Card
Hundreds of thousands of people travel every day by airplane to their destination of choice. In most cases, those who are traveling on business trips will need to stay at some sort of hotel. If you should decide to stay at a hotel, and want to receive some benefits in the process, you may very well be interested in obtaining a hotel rewards credit card. These cards offer many different perks – from airline miles to rentals, and other things. By joining a hotel rewards program, you can be on your way to a truly enjoyable stay, no matter what business you are attending to on your trip. There are many different options when selecting a hotel rewards credit card. It really comes down to what benefits you’d enjoy getting, and what hotel(s) you may frequent most. One card that provides many goodies is the Hilton HHonors Card. There are actually two different versions of this card: one of these is in conjunction with American Express, the other with Citi and VISA. The AmEx card appears to offer better rewards overall. They present you with 5 points for every dollar spent at Hilton Hotels, while the Citi Hilton HHonors VISA actually gives you 6 points. This seems at first like the better deal is with VISA – yet let’s examine more closely: the 6 points are accrued merely for expenditures at the hotels; however, no other purchases fall under this category. In contrast, the American Express card earns those 5 points for each dollar spent not only at the hotels, but drugstores, supermarkets, gas stations, and certain restaurants – plus the U.S. Post Office and on bills for wireless phone use. Meanwhile, the Citi VISA card does give points for most of those purchases…but only 3 points per dollar. Really, the choice comes down to where you are most likely to spend on your rewards credit card. If you spend primarily at the hotel, then it may be the better value to have the Citi VISA card. On the other hand, those who spend at many different establishments would prefer the benefits they get from the AmEx card. The choice is yours. There are also other hotel rewards credit cards to take advantage of. Marriott offers four different cards for your consideration. The Bank of America Power Rewards Card provides a $100 check from Marriott for every 10,000 points earned. Wells Fargo’s VISA Platinum Card also offers the same thing. If you want the flexibility of being able to stay at any hotel and get rewards, then you may like Blue from American Express. This rewards card allows travelers to select any participating hotel they wish to stay at through the Membership Rewards program. There are 15 various hotels at which you can use the program, including Marriott, Wyndham Resorts, Best Western Ritz Carlton, and the Four Seasons. The best potential option might be the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card, which allows you to accrue points for other travel rewards as well – and provides 5 points for each dollar spent in locations such as gas stations, supermarkets, and drugstores. There are many different hotel rewards cards to consider. It all depends on how you’re going to spend your money when you travel.
